Wed (05Sep) instead of Thu (06Sep)

I would like to keep Thursday night as our "longer and faster" run night, but I can't make it on 06Sep2012 ... Kate and I are donating blood and then going out to dinner with friends ... we'll try for Wednesday night (05Sep2012) instead. Same place and time. Everyone welcome.

Longer runs on Thursdays

Jorge and Jeff need to do some longer runs in preparation for the half marathons coming up in October. We plan to start this Thursday evening (30Aug2012) with a Mill Bay loop: starting at Jorge's place on Noowick, up past Serious Coffee, past Rat Lake, along Haul Road until it connects with Mill Bay Road, and back around to Jorge's place. Approximate distance: 14km. Approximate time: 1hr15min. I will map this with Google Maps (when I get the chance) to show the route and distance. Let anyone and everyone know who might be interested in joinging us. Let Jorge or I know if you plan to join us and we'll tell you the exact time and place.

We look forward to next Tuesday

This Sunday we run the Cobble Hill. It was a good idea! (Mostly shady!)  We met at the Burnam Park parking spot at 8:30. The map shows roughly our way. 9.5 km and about 60min.

We look forward to next Tuesday at the
Kerry Park Recreation Centre

Welcome to the South Cowichan Running blog. This is a place where runners from the South Cowichan area can get together to plan group runs or post information about organized running events. Our little group has been running (pardon the pun) for several years now and has sprung out of the TC10K training clinics that are held at the Shawnigan Lake Community Center Jan-Apr every year in preparation for the Times Colonist 10K in Victoria.

There is a cost associated with the clinic, but there is no charge to join or participate in our running group and you don't have to take the clinic to join our group. The group accepts anyone of any ability (including walkers), but currently we are mainly comprised of 40-something and 50-something women (and a couple of men) who typically run 8-10 kmh for 8-10 km at a time. We typically get together Sunday mornings (either 8:30AM or 9:00AM) and Tuesday evenings (either 6:15PM or 7:00PM), year round, regardless of weather.

This blog is an attempt to avoid most of the email traffic that planning a run can generate. You can instruct the blog to notify you by email of posts, but it's a central repository for time-and-place discussions and running summaries. Feel free to put up your comments, even if it's just "That was a great run today!".
